Luminance offered a preview of the future of contract negotiation with a live demonstration showcasing the first-ever AI to fully automate contract negotiation between two parties without human involvement.

Established in 2016, Luminance leverages a bespoke legal Large Language Model (LLM), enhanced by the analysis of over 150 million documents. Its exposure to a vast array of legal texts, coupled with its AI and deep understanding of the legal sector, positions it as one of the most sophisticated legal LLM currently available.

The introduction of Luminance Autopilot marks a new era in Luminance's AI capabilities, enabling the automation of routine contract negotiations like Non-Disclosure Agreements. The AI autonomously reviews contracts, addresses risk areas, and adapts to amendments proposed by a counterparty's AI. This process is informed by each business's historical agreements and preferred stances. Such automation liberates legal professionals to concentrate on more strategic tasks, allowing businesses in various sectors to reallocate legal resources more effectively.

Jaeger Glucina, Chief of Staff and MD at Luminance commented: “Contracts are fundamental to business operations, outlining relationships with employees, suppliers, and clients. However, legal teams often find themselves dedicating around 80% of their time to reviewing and negotiating standard documents. Luminance Autopilot ushers in an efficient new era in legal work, potentially revolutionising the field. By entrusting routine negotiations to an AI well-versed in legal matters and familiar with your business, we enable lawyers to focus their creativity where it matters most.”

Connagh McCormick, General Counsel at proSapient, remarked: “Luminance's latest breakthrough is a game-changer for the legal sector. It promises to expedite the negotiation process, reduce the time to signature, and enhance efficiency across businesses. Importantly, it provides legal teams with more time for complex, creative work that benefits from human insight and experience. The potential applications of this technology are limitless.”
