3D-printed adidas shoe is customised to an individuals foot

The future of performance footwear has been released by Adidas. The Futurecraft 3D is a unique 3D printed shoe midsole which can be tailored to the cushioning needs of an individual’s foot. The 3D concept is part of the ‘Futurecraft series’, a forward-looking initiative that places open source collaboration and craftsmanship at the heart of design to drive innovation across all elements of production.

The company has created a unique combination of material and process, which provides a personal experience for buyers. The shoes will offer support and cushioning, to enable users to perform their best when wearing the shoe. adidas want buyers to be able to go in to their stores, run on a treadmill briefly and instantly get a 3D-printed running shoe, which is a perfect fit for their foot.

This will create a breathable and flexible carbon copy of the buyers footprint, matching exact contours and pressure points.
