In 2016, to demonstrate the potential of electric mobility, Storm Eindhoven took the Storm Wave motorcycle around the world in 80 days.

The research project had developed the motorcycle, with an electric range of 380km, derived from a modular and swappable battery pack.  The motorcycle was able to ride 23,000km around the world, electrically, to become the first electric touring motorcycle.

The project has evolved into the company Spike which designs and manufactures battery modules that are designed to be the safest on the market, and that have the lowest costs over their lifetime.

At electronica 2018, the company presented Kibo, the first electric motorcycle made especially for the Kenyan market. In the emerging Kenyan economy, motorcycles are the best solution to get through congested traffic, but vehicle pollution is causing health problems. Pictured here is the electric prototype of the K150 model.

The modular battery pack allows the motorcycle to be re-energised in minutes by swapping the batteries. The batteries can be stored outside of the motorcycle when they are not needed.
