Excelsys Technologies has announced the introduction of the Xvite medically approved power supply series. Offering up to 1200W in an a space saving 1U x 260mm x 127mm chassis the Xvite family offers an innovative “plug and play” architecture allowing end users to configure an application specific power supply with up to 12 outputs in less than 5 minutes.
The Xvite family consists of four different powerPac chassis, providing power levels from 400 to 1200W and 7 types of powerMods output modules with nominal outputs from 2.5 to 48VDC. All output modules offer a wide range of user adjustment to meet end system requirements. The Xvite family offers a remarkable 15W/in³ power density with up to 90% efficiency. The resultant low heat dissipation, combined with its ultra compact size, radically simplifies system design.

Other system friendly standard features include, UL260101 and EN60601-1 safety approvals, less than 300μA leakage current, 4000VAC isolation, long life electrolytic capacitors, LED status indicators and control signals. All outputs and additional Xvite power supplies may be connected in series or parallel for higher voltages or output power.

Gary Duffy, Managing Director of Excelsys Technologies, comments. “The medical electronics market continues to grow and requires specialised power solutions. Our new Xvite family overcomes the usual lengthy design and approval process by providing off the shelf, pre-approved solutions which may be configured by our customers themselves to provide an exact fit for their specific application without having to undergo further approval testing.”

The Excelsys Xvite has a universal input range, 85-264VAC, over voltage and over temperature protection and will operate at full load up to 50°C. A combination of low loss technologies, the best field-proven planar magnetics and a high degree of surface mount assembly ensures ultra-high efficiency and reduces system thermal load by more than 50% over conventional designs. A separate 5VDC bias “standby” voltage is also provided for system administration.

Customers may specify the exact Xvite medical power supply they require by using the online configurator on www.excelsys.com and use the automatically issued unique part number to place orders for evaluation samples. Typical applications include, clinical diagnostic equipment, medical lasers, dialysis systems, cosmetic surgery equipment, laboratory and hospital systems.
