For the seventh year running, the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) are organising the Lottie Tour.

This aims to capture the imagination of young girls and boys and showcase the huge range of careers available in Engineering. WES supporters will be taking Lottie Dolls around the world from June until October with photos of the visits being posted throughout Tomorrow’s Engineers Week (November 2022).

The Lottie Tour started with only ten volunteers in its first year, and has now grown to over 170 in 2021 with photos coming in from throughout the UK and beyond including USA, Malawi, Finland, UAE and Antarctica.

Sponsored by MacLaren Racing and GKN Automotive there are a range of engineering themed dolls that can be borrowed or bought. Lottie Dolls can be requested with PPE including hard hats, high vis jackets, safety glasses and lab coats, so Lottie is ready to go on to site or into a lab.

During the week, photos will be posted on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram with the hashtag #WESLottieTour. We also encourage volunteers to produce video content, as platforms such as TikTok and YouTube are very popular amongst primary age students. The Lottie Tour is organised each year by the WES Early Career Board members Kate Mactear, Anna Hart and Billie Sequeira.
