At Engineering Design Show 2025, Electronic Specifier’s Editor, Mick Elliott speaks to Lee Thomas UK Sales Manager for Yokogawa about the products Yokogawa are displaying on their stand at EDS, including the WT5000 power analyser and DL950 ScopeCorder.

The WT5000

The WT5000 is a modular seven-channel electrical power analyser with voltage capabilities of up to 1,500V DC and 1,000V RMS. For current, it supports three input modules ranging up to 5A, 30A, and one that connects directly to current sensors, allowing users to extend range capabilities depending on the sensor type.
Torque and speed measurements enable engineers to assess both mechanical and electrical power to determine overall efficiency across applications such as electric powertrains. The WT5000 is accredited as the most accurate electrical power analyser in the world.

The WT1800R

The WT1800R, the latest addition to the 1800 series, delivers 0.05% power accuracy, calibrated through Yokogawa’s accredited lab. It supports torque and speed measurement for single transducers, including encoder inputs, enabling analysis of electromechanical efficiency.
With capacity for up to six phases, it can measure 50A direct input and up to 1,000V RMS direct input. Data can be stored internally or streamed directly to a computer.

The WT300 and WT500 series

The WT300 features a four-digit display, while the WT500 offers both graphical and numerical interfaces. Each provides 0.1% electrical power accuracy with bandwidth up to 100kHz. Yokogawa’s calibration facility in the Netherlands supports full-range power calibration up to this frequency.
Users can choose between factory calibration or ISO17025-accredited calibration, providing internationally traceable measurement standards.

The DLM3000 and DLM5000 series

The DLM3000 is a compact two- or four-channel oscilloscope with a footprint similar to an A5 sheet. Building on the DLM4000, the DLM5000 and DLM5000HD provide up to eight channels and record lengths of one gigapoint, maintaining sample rates over extended measurement periods.
An auto-setup function supports both analogue and serial bus configurations, automatically setting decoding parameters when connected to a signal – saving engineers time in setup and analysis.

The DL950 ScopeCorder

The DL950 ScopeCorder combines the features of an oscilloscope and a data recorder. Its modular design allows engineers to swap interface cards to suit changing applications without learning a new instrument.
It achieves up to 200 million samples per second and captures parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, strain, and acceleration through transducers. It can record continuously for up to 50 days and capture multiple trigger events without resetting.
An application wizard assists users through setup, guiding connections and measurement parameters. GPS functionality is also available for time synchronisation.

The WT300 series

Yokogawa’s range of instruments, including its power meters and data recorders, can be used together for combined electrical and environmental analysis. For example, engineers can synchronise power consumption data with measurements such as temperature, torque, or vibration to assess complete system efficiency.
This integration allows for detailed insight into electromechanical performance on a single interface. Through both software and hardware, users can set thresholds and alarms, notifying them of parameter deviations in real time, whether displayed on screen or transmitted through inputs and outputs to other systems.
