Bluetooth Lego Minecraft smartphone detection with Silicon Labs

Minecraft. If you haven’t heard of it, it is a sandbox game.

This hack makes it possible to automatically flicker your torches when you’re near. Using Bluetooth, Adafruit’s PWM driver and some creativity, you can turn your Lego into an internet connected location device.

Using a BGM111 module, James created a hack for Lego Minecraft, turning on torches when the module detects a specific Bluetooth device, and turning them off when the device leaves range. This way his favorite decoration starts up when he arrive at his desk, and turns off when he leaves. Automagically and all by itself.
