Series 6: Episode 4 – Developing the UK PEMD Supply Chain for the Aerospace Sector

This week's podcast sees Will Jury discussing PEMD in relation to energy conversion, from vehicle electrification to the green aerospace sector. As Will says: "We're focusing on power electronics, machines and drives – so we're looking at energy conversion. How do we make electricity? Wind turbines? ... This PEMD is the next era we need to make the electricity in an efficient and effective way."

As the Challenge Director for driving the new electric revolution at UK Research and Innovation, Will explains that it's his role to oversee and deliver on the industrial strategy challenge fund activity around PEMD, and also covers the current arrangement of the UK research councils. "UK Research Innovation brings together the UK's research councils with Research England and Innovate UK under one roof. So this is the UK research agency, and we provide funding and community and I'd say ecosystem building around how we fund research and innovation in the UK.

"So I work in the amount of money from driving electric revolutions being delivered predominantly out of Innovate UK."
