NEXT Biometrics receives NOK 55-107 million purchase order
NEXT Biometrics has extended its partnership with India-based ACPL. The partners have signed an agreement which includes a firm purchase order valued at NOK 55-107 million to support identity verification and payments use cases. The shipments will start in Q2 2025.
NEXT and ACPL have collaborated to develop a new, more advanced fingerprint sensor. This solution will support the global expansion of biometric verification systems for national ID programmes, facilitating access to government aid, financial services, and more. These sensors are set to be integrated into ACPL devices marked for roll out across countries including Chile, India, Mexico, Morocco, South Africa, and Uganda.
NEXT’s existing partnership with ACPL was announced in 2022. This order extends the relationship and demonstrates ACPL’s growing market share. NEXT recently supported ACPL in successfully completing the rigorous Aadhaar L1 certification process, demonstrating exceptional in-field performance and security. The system’s accuracy, performance, and security were tested to ensure the system correctly identifies and authenticates users, works swiftly, and that it can also withstand various types of attacks and manipulations. NEXT’s solutions are also MOSIP compliant and certified by a number of other bodies, including FBI-PIV and NIBSS.
“Partnering with NEXT Biometrics has enabled us to deliver faster, more secure, and Aadhaar-compliant fingerprint authentication solutions,” states Ajay Sinha, Managing Director at ACPL. “NEXT’s sensor technology has helped us meet stringent L1 certification requirements while enhancing the overall citizen experience through faster transactions and superior reliability. The close technical collaboration with their engineering team was a major factor in the successful integration and rollout of our latest products.”
“This is a significant milestone in a truly collaborative partnership,” adds Ulf Ritsvall, CEO of NEXT Biometrics. “We share a commitment to delivering strong and convenient biometric authentication for India and beyond. ACPL has identified the value of active thermal biometrics in both meeting the stringent security and liveness requirements of government deployments while ensuring high-speed, convenient, and accurate authentications for citizens. This is why we’re seeing the growth in demand globally and look forward to working closely with ACPL to deliver on this next wave of national ID initiatives.”
As the new, more advanced sensor has a higher unit price, ACPL has the option to replace some of the sensors with the standard version of our flagship FAP20 sensor, which in this case will reduce the order value accordingly.
