This November, TARA Systems released Version 13 of Embedded Wizard, its graphical user interfaces solution.

The latest iteration of Embedded Wizard is characterised by its higher usability, improved design, and its ability to support even more languages for more international products.

Version 13 of Embedded Wizard emphasises user-friendliness, which is always a top priority for TARA Systems, and thus facilitates the professional software development of graphical user interfaces on embedded systems. The new release has been extended to sort and group displayed properties based on their names or categories. With the help of this new feature, even objects that contain multiple properties are easily organised. Additionally, the tool has been updated to manage multiple source code editors. Previously, travelling across Composer pages resulted in an automatic switch between editors. In the new version, the tabs merely fade in or out and the state of the editors does not change as the user navigates between pages. This modification saves time while also providing the user with greater flexibility during the creation process.

The most recent version of Embedded Wizard released by TARA Systems refines the user experience – both while using the GUI tool, as well as for the customer’s GUI projects – by offering additional design options, thus expanding the range of attainable user interface designs. Shadows have been refined and rounding effects have been added, which results in more diverse and creative design possibilities for user interfaces. Furthermore, widgets have been adjusted. Users may now select the desired colours, size parameters, corner rounding, and shadow effects directly in the configuration object of the corresponding widget. This functionality uses vector graphics, allowing users to customise the appearance of the widget without relying on bitmaps and thereby reducing the amount of flash memory needed.

Moreover, the latest release offers the possibility to integrate external shaping engines. In Version 13 of Embedded Wizard, any external shaping engine may be used to design graphical user interfaces. This was proven in collaboration with Monotype Spark. TARA Systems successfully pre-integrated and validated their stacks. Due to this new feature, complex text layout shaping is made possible. As a result, graphical user interfaces may now show Thai and Devanagari text dynamically during runtime, which causes Embedded Wizard 13 to be more language-inclusive than previous versions.
