Benetel Joins the Open RAN Policy Coalition

Benetel has announced that it has joined the Open RAN Policy Coalition to support the development of a secure and global ecosystem for 5G. Benetel is an advocate of open architecture and ecosystem, this year, Benetel introduced ORAN-compliant radios and is continuing to develop product offerings for the OpenRAN ecosystem.

“Secure OpenRAN architecture for 5G is a cornerstone of Benetel’s strategy,” said Olli Andersson, Benetel’s Senior Vice President for Americas. “We are looking forward to working with the Open RAN Policy Coalition and its members to advance our mission.”

Launched in May 2020 by a group of policymakers, operators and equipment providers, the coalition was set up to promote policies designed to open up the Radio Access Network (RAN), a key element in the architecture needed for advanced wireless technologies, including 5G.

Benetel works with open initiatives, such as the O-RAN Alliance, the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance (OSA), the Telecom Infrastructure Project (TIP), and now the Open RAN Policy Coalition to provide RUs over fronthaul networks that interwork with virtualised baseband units. This open disaggregated RAN is the backbone of next-generation mobile network infrastructure.
