55+ Series: IR Components for 5Hz / 5µm
LASER COMPONENTS has announced their 55+ Series pyroelectric detector and IR emitter.
This product is designed to address IR detection in the region of 5-10µm at low modulations of 5Hz. We pair an Infrasolid high power IR emitter with our low noise differential pyroelectric detector to create a perfect match for applications such as gas detection. Additionally, our broad range of narrow bandpass filters ensure the detector is optimised for each application.
Historically, gas detection has been heavily focused on natural gas and combustion related chemical compounds such as CO and CO2 with absorption in the 3-5µm range. As our civilisation moves away from fossil fuels, gas detection and measurement will follow. An area of significant interest will lie in the 5-10µm region for detecting organic compounds or moisture measurement in gases with very little crosstalk.
