Singapore-based Interplex, a provider of customised interconnect, high-precision and mechanical products solutions, has acquired OCP Group (OCP), a custom connector and cable assembly design and manufacturer based in San Diego, California.

“OCP has a solid track record of over 30 years in the design and manufacturing of highly reliable custom connectors and cable assemblies for key major OEMs. The acquisition of OCP is a strategic investment in expanding Interplex’s fast-growing Medical & Life Sciences product portfolio in the customised interconnect and cable assembly solutions. They also bring valuable opportunities in specialised sensors as well as harsh environment applications.  This acquisition will complete our company-wide strategy for accelerated growth by enabling our focus on key megatrends such as “Decarbonisation of Transportation”, “Future Mobility”, “Increase Longevity” and “Digitalisation”, where Interplex has established a strong position over the last five years,” said Alessandro Perrotta (pictured), CEO, Interplex.

“OCP is very excited to become a part of the Interplex family,” responded Treacy Sommer, General Manager of OCP. “By joining Interplex, we will be a part of a global team that offers mid to top-tier OEMs in the Medical, Automotive, Data Centres and Industrial markets, responsive and technical competence. More interestingly, we will be able to offer competitively priced alternatives to other larger interconnect industry companies. Our team is truly unique in that we have the right people, scale and ability for the next growth phase; I see good things coming.”

“OCP specialises in several different market segments and a majority of their business focuses on Medical and Life Science products. With OCP joining the Interplex group, we strengthen low-high volume interconnect solutions as well as support low-volume, complex-to-high volume disposable assemblies. Our product portfolio is now extended to include standard and custom connectors and cable assemblies for the Medical and Life Sciences market segments requiring ISO 13485. With presence in San Diego, USA, Tijuana, Mexico and Dongguan, China, we are now even closer to our strategic OEMs,” adds Roy Muscarella, VP and Head of Medical Business Unit.
