The sighs of relief from the organisers of Sensor + Test 2022 were probably heard across the globe. After a COVID enforced hiatus of three years, the event was back in business at the Nuremberg Messe (10 to 12 May).

"We will finally be able to welcome our exhibitors and visitors back to the exhibition halls in May after a forced break of three years," said Holger Bödeker, Managing Director of AMA Service GmbH. "According to current status, we expect more than 300 exhibitors in halls 1 and 2 of the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre this year. Of course, this does not bring us up to the numbers of the 2019 show and before Corona, but against the background of global uncertainties and economic problems, this is a respectable level and shows that SENSOR+TEST has lost none of its appeal even after the pandemic. After all, especially for our small and medium-sized companies, the return to a presence trade fair this year is more important than ever to strengthen and expand contacts with active and potential customers."

He adds: "The major trends of this time, from Industry 4.0 to Cloud, Industrial Internet of Things, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, all have one thing in common: Without the data from sensors, measurement and test systems, they would come to nothing. In order for the benefits of their innovations to unfold, there first needs to be a sufficient collection of the relevant data from machines, plants, processes and the environment."

Sensor and Measuring Technology for the Digital World is a theme for the show.

In order for digital systems to produce precise results, they need the most comprehensive and accurate information possible about real-world conditions.

Sensors and measurement systems ensure this link between the digital and the real, analogue world and are thus the key technologies for the functioning of digital processes of all kinds.

In addition to the extensive conference program, visitors can also gain an overview of the exhibitors' latest products and developments in numerous free lectures at the open technical forum in hall 1 on all three days of the trade show - virtually in passing. For those interested who cannot be on site, all lectures will be broadcasted live and the videos will be published online after the event.

Two established conferences

Sensors and sensor systems for the Internet of Things will also be the focus of the 21. ITG/ GMA-Fachtagung Sensoren und Messsysteme, which will be organised in rotation on May 10 and 11, 2022, by the Informationstechnische Gesellschaft im VDE (ITG) in cooperation with the VDI/VDE-Gesellschaft Mess- und Automatisierungstechnik (GMA). Similarly, the conference will also report on new developments in the field of measurement systems, their analysis and description, and system-related (multi-)sensor technology.

The ettc2022 European Test and Telemetry Conference (May 10-12, 2022) in hall 2 is the most important international platform for telemetry, telecontrol, test instrumentation and data processing. It will be held for the fifth time in parallel with SENSOR+TEST. Visitors and participants will experience the important role of telemetry technologies for applications e.g. in aerospace, automotive industry and biomedicine in current industrial developments such as IoT, Big Data, Wireless or UAV (drones).
