Environmental Services and Solutions Expo (ESS), the global event for the environmental services industry, has announced registration is now open with a limited number of early-bird free tickets available.

ESS Expo will return to the NEC, Birmingham from 11–12 September 2024.

The show unities key industry events, the Resource and Waste Management Expo; the Energy, Fuels and Decarbonisation Expo; the Water Resource Management Expo; the Contamination and Land Remediation Expo; and this year, welcomes a brand-new addition to its event portfolio: the Air Pollution Control Expo (APC).

Partnered with the Environment Agency, the exhibition will attract over 12,000 visitors and will centre around four core themes pertinent to the wider industry: the circular economy, green skills shortages, becoming net-zero, and increasing biodiversity. Over 600 exhibitors, including big and leading names DEFRA, Biffa, Engie, Adler and Allen, OfWat, Mercedes, and many more, will showcase their latest products, technologies, and services in net-zero, decarbonisation, resource management, circular economy, water scarcity and management, biodiversity conservation, environmental emergency response, and emissions control.

On offer in 2024

The show’s ever-popular conference programme will offer visitors a comprehensive look at some of the most pressing trends and issues impacting the industry. Headlining the show’s illustrious speaker line-up will be wildlife TV presenter and conservationist, Chris Packham CBE, and British television producer known for producing BBC’s Planet Earth III, Mike Gunton.

Focussing on nature and conservation, the BBC’s very own Chris Packham will be interviewed live in the brand-new Net-Zero Summit Theatre, ESS Expo’s largest ever stage, while Mike Gunton will talk through the impact that nature television series such as Planet Earth have on the public.

Over 350 sustainability experts from the likes of DEFRA, the Environment Agency, Bankers for Net-Zero, BT, Wimbledon Championships, the NHS, Balfour Beatty, SUEZ, Keep Britain Tidy, Zero Waste Scotland, Valpak, and more will deliver keynote speaking sessions, panels, and Q&As across 12 different theatres.

Brand new this year will be the Start Up Zone and the Incubator Hub, the former providing a dedicated space for new-to-market businesses, and the latter designed for those looking for funding to establish themselves and pitch for fundraising and investors. ESS Expo will also introduce its headline Net-Zero Summit Theatre which will welcome industry and government leaders to discuss critical issues within environment and sustainability, including decarbonising business and industry and biodiversity net gain.

This year, APC joins ESS Expo for the first time to provide a platform for experts from the global air quality and emissions reduction industry to engage in conversations, strategic meetings, and thought-provoking presentations dedicated to air quality monitoring, emissions reduction technologies, and regulatory compliance.

Celebrating industry excellence

As part of the show’s awards programme, ESS will host several new initiatives to recognise and celebrate sustainability leaders driving real change in the industry. The Environment 100 Awards celebrates UK-wide changemakers, from established figures to unsung heroes, across seven categories, who deserve recognition for their dedication to a greener tomorrow. The 35 Under 35 Awards, supported by Grundon, honours young professionals driving innovation across the environmental sector. Nominations are open to anyone are completely free and close at midnight on Friday 14 June and Monday 24 June respectively, with the winners announced at the show in September.

Rob Mowat, Managing Director of ESS Expo, said: “As the environment is higher on the agenda for businesses than ever before, ESS Expo will bring together leading and rising sustainability experts to share and explore some of the most game-changing solutions and services concerning the environment.

“After the success of last year’s event, the individual show areas will once again connect sector-specific experts, visionaries, and industry professionals all with the common goal of deploying green innovation to foster a circular economy. We look forward to unveiling the full conference programme as well as the very latest innovations on offer at ESS Expo in the coming months.”
