PXI VST extension debuts at EuMW 2025

NI (Emerson’s Test & Measurement unit) is debuting the extension of its third-generation PXI Vector Signal Transceiver (VST) at European Microwave Week in Utrecht (September 23-25).

The PXIe-5842 now includes 54 GHz frequency capabilities.

This enhancement expands the instrument’s coverage into millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies, enabling new applications in radar, electronic warfare, 5G/6G mmWave, SatCom and integrated sensing and communications (ISAC).

The PXIe-5842 combines a vector signal analyzer, vector signal generator, and onboard FPGA into a single form factor.

With the new frequency extension, which supports up to 2 GHz of bandwidth, users can seamlessly switch between the base instrument and the mmWave configuration, maintaining access to the benefits of the PXI platform, such as multi-instrument synchronization and flexible software options.

This extended frequency capability is already being utilized in advanced applications. Focus Microwaves, a trusted NI alliance partner, integrates the PXIe-5842 with the 54 GHz frequency extension into their Rapid-VT active load-pull solution for mmWave frequencies and will demonstrate its solution live at European Microwave Week 2025.
