Display technology specialist Intelligent Display Solutions (IDS) has announced that it will be a lead sponsor of H/WExpo 2017. H/WExpo is a two-day UK Conference for hardware development engineers and computer scientists.

Next year's event will take place at Cambourne near Cambridge on the 26th and 27th April and will once again be co-located with The UK Device Developers' Conference, an event for embedded systems and real-time software developers.

"We are very pleased to announce our support for next year's hardware developers' conference," said Adrian Amor, Director at IDS. "This year's event was very productive for us, as it gave us a chance to demonstrate and discuss a range of new display and LED technologies. The event itself was well organised, enjoyable and informative, so we had no hesitation in wanting to be a part of next year's conference."

At this year's H/WExpo, in April, IDS launched a new series of OLED display panels. Although OLED is now an established technology, the latest solution includes bright blue and bright green colours as well as larger size displays and custom icons.

"OLEDs remain an attractive technology," said Adrian Amor. "OLED displays emit light, so do not require a backlight. In this respect they are thinner and more efficient than LCD displays. Our demonstration of the latest OLED solutions attracted a lot of attention."

IDS also gave a presentation on Capacitive Touch display technology, exploring what options are out there and how they work.

IDS was established in 2001 by a team of display industry experts. Over time they have built up a great deal of knowledge about both the technical approach and the user interface approach to designing displaysusing LCD, TFT and OLED technologies for many applications. IDS have helped develop innovative displays, enabling customers to enhance their products, with some even receiving awards for design and application.

'We are delighted to have IDS on board again for 2017," said Richard Blackburn, Conference Manager. "They bring a lot of expertise and real-world experience to the Conference; it is this kind of knowledge sharing that makes H/WExpo such a useful and informative event for the delegates that attend."

Covering such topics as silicon choice, PCB and circuit design tools, ASIC and FPGA design, test equipment, display technology and reference design platforms, the H/WExpo conference will include a vendor exhibition, a stream of presentations from industry experts and a series of half day workshops.
