A strong line-up of speakers has been announced for the first Cambridge Wireless Technology Engineering Conference (CW TEC) in London on the 24th March 2015.

CW TEC will bring together industry experts and academics to provide insight and analysis across wireless technology engineering sectors from mobile, satellite and TV to the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable technology and their impact on the value of licensed and unlicensed spectrum from VHF to KA band and beyond. Speakers will include Graham Peters of Avanti, Prof Andy Sutton of EE, Sami Susiaho of BSkyB, Kent Walker of Qualcomm, Alexander Schertz of IRT, Chris Nokes of BBC Research and Development, Dr John Haine of u-blox AG, Paul Morris of CSR, Raj Gawera of Samsung, Jass Sarai of PwC, Martin Gostling of Radio Design, Moray Rumney of Keysight Technologies, Dan Fox of Anritsu and Alan Carlton of InterDigital Europe.”

“It is clear that events during 2015 will shape the future of the mobile industry, such as WRC 2015, the ITU World Radio Congress and the UK general election,” said Geoff Varrall, Chair of the CW TEC Organising Committee. “Taking place six months before WRC 2015, CW TEC will highlight emerging trends and issues such as the relationship between technology innovation and the economics of broadband delivery.

It will also examine the evolution of present technologies and the relative merits of a one-size-fits-all approach versus application and market specific technology and standards.”

The interactive agenda will develop over four sessions; each one structured to capture comment and promote debate on present and future technical choices and their commercial consequences.

Professor Andy Sutton of EE and CW TEC speaker says: “This is a timely and eagerly anticipated event and I am delighted to be participating.

Of particular interest will be the debate as to whether user needs are converging or diverging and whether present R&D priorities are too narrowly or too broadly focussed. I think that the agenda, developed to encourage audience participation will be very popular and immensely important.”

Soraya Jones, Chief Executive, CW said: “We see this as the must-attend event for wireless engineers in 2015. While it’s attracting attention from the mobile broadband communities, we are experiencing interest from specialised communities in fields such as high data rate, low latency wide area networks, local area wireless technologies, public safety, emergency response, and the satellite and sub space industry. With over 200 delegates, CW TEC will provide a vibrant arena for learning, discussion, debate and networking.”

Set in the riverside offices of CW partner, PwC UK, CW TEC will be taking place on Tuesday 24th March in London. We are also grateful to InterDigital Europe, Microlease & Keysight Technologies, Anritsu and Interlligent UK, our other sponsors on this inaugural event.

The members of the CW TEC organising committee are Geoff Varrall of RTT Online, Dirk Trossen of InterDigital, Sylivia Lu of u-blox AG, Guy Kenyon of Kenyon Consulting and Tim Phipps of Cambridge Consultants.
