BTU International will present at the 39th International Conference and Exposition on Advanced Ceramics and Composites (IACC), 25th to 30th January, in Florida. Ramesh D. Peelamedu, Ph.D., and Donald A. Seccombe Jr., P.E., co-authored and will present the paper: 'Performance Study of Li-Ion Battery Electrodes Dried Using Inline Microwave Hybrid System'. BTU will also exhibit in booth 307 at the show.

The interaction of microwave energy with battery solvent and aqueous coating materials can dry the electrodes significantly faster compared to conventional methods that are currently being used for primary and secondary drying in the battery industry. The time, energy and footprint savings reduce the cost of ownership, which would ultimately result in production cost savings.

The comparable performance of microwave dried electrodes against baseline electrodes proved that BTU’s hybrid microwave technology can be used without damaging electrode microstructure, significantly reducing electrode moisture levels, still maintaining industry standard battery performance levels, while operating outside of a dry room.
