Benefits of NB-IoT tech showcased at Mobile World Congress 2017

u-blox is collaborating with Vodafone and many different companies across the IoT ecosystem to demonstrate the power of Narrowband IoT (NB-IoT) technology at Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s premier event, held in Barcelona on 27 February – 2 March 2017. Each listed demo will run on a u-blox SARA-N2 NB-IoT module to illustrate various use cases of NB-IoT.

Announced in June 2016, SARA-N2 was the world’s first cellular radio module compliant to the 3GPP Release 13, NB-IoT (LTE Cat NB1) standard, a new Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technology for applications that require small amounts of data, over long periods, in hard to reach places.

SARA-N2 supports wide geographic coverage and 10+ years of battery life on a primary single-cell battery, thus reducing deployment and maintenance costs. Based on u-blox’s very small SARA form factor, it offers easy migration between u-blox GSM, HSPA and CDMA modules, while enabling future-proof, seamless mechanical scalability across technologies.
