Baicells launches Nova452 High-Powered Outdoor eNodeB for Operators of all Sizes and Types

Baicells Technologies has announced its Nova452 outdoor eNodeB is now available to operators and enterprises. The system can be upgraded to 5G and offers a way to bring advanced connectivity to the unconnected.

The 3GPP compliant Nova452 can operate across multiple LTE bands and offers up to 4x40W of power, giving the system extended reach and minimising the number of densification points required in the network, while providing a blanket of reliable service coverage.

The Nova452 is positioned to offer the benefits of Dual-Carrier (DC) or Carrier Aggregation (CA) mode. In CA mode, Nova452 supports 2CC (2 Component Carriers) which effectively doubles the throughput when compared to a single carrier mode, by aggregating two separate spectrum resources into a single virtual contiguous spectrum resource. In DC mode, each carrier is treated as an independent cell, supporting 512+512 users, with each cell supporting 5, 10, 15, 20, or 100MHz (5G NR) channels.

Operators can simply upgrade the platform for 5G as customer needs dictate, allowing them to take full advantage of the 100MHz channel bandwidth and resulting performance to offer 5G services without a costly or disruptive upgrade process.

Baicells HaloB mobile core option is available as an integrated function on the Nova452, thereby minimising the number of physical elements in the network, and its overall complexity. This operational simplicity affords the operator a faster time to service and faster time to revenue. The Nova452 is natural fit for both greenfield and brownfield deployments.

"Our focus is on offering innovative ways to connect more for less," said Minchul Ho, Baicells President of the Americas. "With the Nova452, and its high-powered capability and path to 5G, operators can densify their network to deliver a high-quality connected experience, but without the cost and complexity typically experienced with other platforms."

The Nova452 has been certified and is already in planning for first trial deployments with multiple customers in the US starting Q1 2023.

Baicells launches the Aurora6449m 5G mmWave Outdoor Small Cell

Baicells Technologies has announced the availability of its new 5G mmWave small cell, the Aurora6449m, developed using the Qualcomm 5G SoC (System on a Chip) solution.

The Aurora6449m will support the NR (new radio) Bands n257, n258, n260, and n261 and is compliant with 3GPP Release 15, making it possible for the system to be deployed without any Sub-6 GHz bands and still interoperate with other existing 3GPP based 4G/5G networks. Support of these 5G NR bands allows the Aurora6449m platform to be deployed in both public and private network environments and across a number of global market regions. Offering integrated antennas and supporting up to 4x100MHz carriers with up to 1000 users or connected end points, the platform offers performance supporting up to 1200Mbps on a downlink and 90Mbps on an uplink.

Out of the box, the Aurora6449m product is configured to operate with Baicells proven Cloudcore 5GCore (5GC) platform or can operate in standalone mode and is managed by the existing OMC allowing for an easy introduction. Like other Baicells radio access network (RAN) products, the Aurora6449m is user friendly, designed for easy installation and configuration allowing a faster time to service.

"Baicells has been evaluating ways to make 5G more accessible to operators of all sizes, not just the tier 1 carriers and large networks" said Bai Wei, Baicells GM of International Markets. "Our Aurora6449m solution addresses this opportunity and brings another high-performance 5G option to market at an attractive price point. This will help to accelerate 5G deployments by small and medium sized telecom providers and deliver connectivity that can support next generation applications for consumers and enterprises."

According to Markets and Markets Research, the global 5G services market already topped $100bn in 2022 and is expected to surpass $330bn by 2027.

The Aurora6449m has been wrapping up its final stages of testing and is already in planning for first trial deployments. General availability is planned for Q2 2023.

Baicells Announces Quanta Program to Build its Own System Level Chips

Baicells Technologies has announced its Quanta program to build its own system level chips in house to accelerate its go to market. The Quanta system on a chip program promises several critical benefits like lower product cost, lower power requirements, and smaller physical footprint, that can be realized by Baicells customers going forward.

The program will deliver its first products, the Quanta BCR200 and Quanta BCTR100, in Q2 2023.

The Quanta BCR200 RRU (Remote Radio Unit) system level on a chip. It will offer support for both LTE and 5G functionality, either as a hybrid or standalone network. It has an integrated Radio Frequency (RF) transceiver with an integrated RF front-end, including digital analogue mixed signal processing and frequency synthesiser. The chip also contains an RF transceiver supporting the Sub 6GHz band. It supports LTE/5G system bandwidth channels: 100, 80, 60, 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, and 5MHz. It offers a host of configurable CPRI options like cascading, compressed IQ data, and bandwidth options to support both single and dual carriers.

The Quanta BCTR100 is a ultra-wideband 2T2R mixer with Phased Locked Loop (PLL). The Quanta BCTR100 converts IF signals ranging from 400MHz to 7000MHz and supports LTE/NR system bandwidth from 1.4MHz to 100MHz. Its small form factor allows it to be used in both mobile devices like smartphones, PDAs, tablets, CPE, and in 4G and 5G small cell platforms.

Lixin Sun, Chairman and CEO of Baicells, commented: "With these types of engineering programs, we continue to execute on our mission to connect the unconnected, and in ways that others in this space are not. It's efforts like these that will highlight how we continue to innovate and standout for our customers in this critical product segment."
