500 BLE proximity beacons installed at CES for visitor app

To provide attendees of the 2015 CES with indoor navigation and enhanced mobile information services, EM Microelectronic has installed approximately 500 EMBC01 BLE proximity beacons at the event venue. This setup, which is the largest-ever deployment of multi-protocol beacons, will support the official CES App on both iOS and Android smartphones.

The EMBC01 beacons, optimised for low power consumption and long range, are fully programmable and capable of supporting multiple protocols, such as iBeacon and AltBeacon. FCC/CE/IC certified, the beacons are offered in an IP-64 housing. An integrated pushbutton maximises battery life, making the EMBC01 beacons particularly suitable for providing micro-location context awareness. The beacons enable indoor navigation and context-sensitive messaging, enhancing visitors’ experience at CES 2015.

“EMBC01 was developed with flexibility, low power, value and high quality in mind from the outset. It offers versatility at low overall cost to all beacon users for paving the way to a truly pervasive IoT,” said Michel Willemin, President, EM. “EM is very proud to support the CES 2015 multi-protocol proximity beacon project.”
