Swindon Silicon Systems, a mixed signal ASIC specialist and a Sensata Technologies company, is supporting innovation in the electronics sector through its sponsorship of the Elektra Awards.

This event, held annually at Grosvenor House, London on 29th November 2023, celebrates growth and performance within the industry.

The Elektra Awards, a significant event in the global electronics leaders' calendar, features 18 award categories and attracts over 300 attendees each year. The event recognises achievements across various sectors, including semiconductors, startups, product design, and power systems.

Following the UK government's announcement of a £1 billion, 20-year semiconductor strategy, this year's ceremony takes on added significance. This strategy aims to invest in domestic chip companies, bolstering the UK's role in the global semiconductor market.

An independent panel of 20 representatives from leading organisations, alongside numerous industry sponsors, supports the ceremony. Swindon Silicon Systems, returning as the sponsor for the Design Tool and Development Software category, will honour a company excelling in software design tool, application, and software intellectual property (IP) development.

Richard Mount, Director of Sales at Swindon Silicon Systems, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: "Without high-quality software, we would not be able to deliver our range of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs), System in Package (SiP), and System on Chip (SoC) technologies on time and to specification. Our longstanding partnership with the Elektra Awards is an excellent chance to showcase the vast array of global electronics talent. It also serves as inspiration for how we can further develop companies and individuals domestically."

With over five decades of experience in the electronics sector, Swindon specialises in custom ASICs. These are tailored for specific applications, providing optimised performance and IP protection compared to standard ICs.

Custom ASICs offer the advantage of being difficult to re-engineer for other applications and come with a guarantee of availability throughout the customers' product lifespan, reducing the risk of obsolescence.
