Microchip has announced that a comprehensive survey by The Irish Independent has named Microchip Technology as number 15 in a list of the top 150 employers in Ireland for 2023.

The Irish Independent selected the list from data that was collected from employees representing more than 1,000 companies based in Ireland. The research examined aspects that included everything from wages and work-life balance to the potential for professional development, as well as the ongoing reputation of the employer.

Particularly impressive is that Microchip has leapt a full 88 places from ranking number 103 in 2022 to number 15 in this year’s survey.

Microchip Technology Vice President EMEA, Michael Malinas said, “This significant advance is ample evidence that the $20m commitment we made only two years to not only establish a thriving business in Ireland, but to ensuring it was an attractive place to work will continue to pay dividends, not only for Microchip Technology and our customers, but to our valued employees.”

The team of Microchip employees working across operations in Dublin, Cork and Ennis, has grown rapidly, from less than 200 in 2021 to more than 350 today. Microchip’s ethos is that each employee is encouraged to use every one of the considerable tools at their disposal to deliver smart, connected, and secure technology solutions for Microchip customers.

The $20M Development Centre launched by Microchip Technology in Cork in 2021 has proven to be the expected catalyst to the company’s success in the region. By partnering closely with some of Ireland’s leading universities, the Development Centre has become a thriving core of semi-conductor knowledge, skill and state-of-the-art development that rivals any in the world. The engineering expertise now flourishing at the centre has similarly proven to be a rich, and readily accessible repository for regional technical support.

Malinas added, “Wherever they are in the world, our employees are an integral part of the company’s overall success. It’s one thing to be seen to be a great place to work, but to be able to prove it on the objective evidence of The Irish Independent’s survey is deeply rewarding and a credit to those it recognises – our Ireland-based employees.”
