Wilson Process Systems ramps up board placement capabilities with Universal pick and place equipment

Wilson Process Systems (WPS), the leading contract manufacturer, is continuing its investment program to meet the needs of its customers as they ramp up, now that the economic climate is improving.

The company has increased its capacity and now has two Universal AdVantis AC30 Lightning pick and place machines and a Universal AdVantis AC72 flexible placement platform. The high speed AC30 chip placement platforms take only 0.11 seconds per placement, enabling each machine to handle up to 33,600 component placements per hour. Featuring a 30-spindle lightning head with dual on-the-head camera optics this equipment can handle components ranging in size from 0201 to 30x30mm by 6mm tall.

The AC72 flexible placement platform is configured with a single 7-spindle head and handles an even wider component range – (0201 to 50x50mm x25mm tall), this line operates at speeds of 0.19 seconds per placement, handling up to 18,900 component placements per hour.

Commented WPS’ Sales Director, Nick Jones: “We are seeing growth in many sectors – especially the Transport and Data Logging markets. As an independent company we can react very quickly and invest to meet our customers’ requirements. Also, because we manufacture everything in the UK – rather than relying on overseas partnerships and facilities – we can be very flexible and control quality directly.”
