Supporting cross-border fellowship trainings devoted to global cancer control, Würth Elektronik has launched its “eiSos for Charity” campaign in partnership with the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). For every reference design that Würth Elektronik eiSos wins in 2014, the company will donate $40 to UICC.

Further to this, for every reference design for which Würth Elektronik eiSos is registered as the second source, $20 will be donated. Last year saw Würth Elektronik win, or appointed as second source, for several hundred designs. This means that UICC is set to receive a large donation, to be invested into UICCs flagship fellowship program, which has been running successfully for more than 50 years.

“A robust and connected health workforce to deliver cancer control services from health promotion to early detection, diagnosis, treatment and care at all levels, in the community and at primary, referral and specialist hospitals is key to reducing the cancer burden”, comments Julie Torode, Deputy CEO and Director of Advocacy and Programs at UICC. ”UICC fellowships and workshops aim to give caretakers for cancer patients new skills and accelerate change by building research capacity, fostering international collaborations and enabling knowledge transfer.”

"At Würth Elektronik eiSos, we are proud to contribute to the training of future leaders in the field of cancer control. Supporting the global fight against cancer is a matter that is close to our heart," commented company CEOs Oliver Konz and Thomas Schrott.

The donation pledge will be signed on 4th February, on World Cancer Day.
