Village Tronic, one of the leading pioneers of multi-display solutions, has joined DisplayLink’s certification program. DisplayLink makes the graphics chip at the heart of Village Tronic’s ViBook USB display extenders.
“Quality has been at the forefront of every aspect of the design of ViBook,” said Ascanio Orlandini, Village Tronic’s CTO. “Customers want products that they can rely on so we go to great lengths to ensure that we use premium components and an innovative low power design which is reflected in our three year warrantee that is one of the longest from these kinds of products. Other innovations include its ultra compact size and the ability to plug it directly into the display. Once you have discovered the benefits of working in multi-screen environment, you would never want to go back to just one screen but you have to have a set up that you can rely on which is what you get with our ViBook.”

Andre Bouwer, Head of Worldwide Sales, DisplayLink, added, “Our certification program is designed to assure customers that they are buying products that are reliable. Village Tronic’s ViBook has set a high benchmark for reliability, innovation, quality of design and quality of construction making it a premium product.”

The ViBook USB display extender costs €129 in Europe, which includes VAT and free shipping to mainland Europe if ordered from the website www.vibook.it Additional units ordered at the same time cost €109 each. In USA and Canada, the first ViBook costs US$129 but then the price drops to $US109 each for additional units ordered at the same time from the website linked at http://www.villagetronic.com/vibook/buynow.html.

The ViBook enables additional displays to be added to desktops and laptops very easily using a USB port to provide a low cost way to increase work screen area and productivity.

The Village Tronic multi-screen software makes it easy to arrange programs on the screens exactly how the user wants them to improve their efficiency. For example, one or two programs can be dedicated to each screen so that they are always visable or a spreadsheet can be run seamlessly across all the displays. Everything the user needs to work effectively can be always on display to multi-task without the delay of having to scroll or open and close panes, which really improves productivity for very little cost.

Designed and manufactured to high quality standards in Italy, ViBook is extremely small at only 4.3cm by 7cm by 2.4cm (1.7 in by 2.8 in by 0.9 in) and has a three year warrantee. Up to six displays can be driven by one Windows based computer and up to four for a Mac OS one. Each display is driven by an ultra compact ViBook that plugs directly into the DVI socket of the display and the other end of the cable goes to the USB port of the desktop or notebook.

ViBook is supplied as a complete USB Graphics System that includes a DVI to VGA cable for high quality analog output to displays, a VESA mounting cradle and Village Tronic’s sophisticated multi-screen software for an enhanced user experience - VT MultiDisplay software for Windows and VT Voilà for Mac. Other cable options are available as optional extras.

The ViBook is compatible with any computer system with an USB 2.0 port running Mac OS X 10.4, 10.5 and 10.6 on Intel-based Macs and Windows 2000, Windows XP (32-bit), Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit). It can support displays up to 22” in size, with a resolution of 1680x1050 (widescreen) and 1600x1200 (standard) in 16 and 32 bit color. As it draws its power from the USB within the USB power rating, no additional power adapters are required and it can even work via a USB hub. It can be used with or independently of the video card already installed in the computer and can even drive projectors and HDTV displays.
