European Automation has published a set of infographics detailing the top five things that go wrong with electric motors, inverters, PLCs and HMIs. The four infographics are designed as a quick and easy summary. Many of the problems featured in the infographics can be prevented if companies and staff remain alert.

The infographic comes not long after European Automation introduced the AUTOMATED section of its website, intended as an online industry knowledge bank. Whilst the infographic is the first of its kind, a slide share and special industry reports on topics like energy efficiency, RFID and industrial security have already been made available free of charge by European Automation. Upcoming topics include the benefits of remote data access, M2M communication and collapsing automation architecture.

"We’ve been talking a lot recently about common reasons why industrial automation equipment fails,” explains Jonathan Wilkins, Marketing Manager, European Automation. "We wanted to simplify the information and provide an overview that a wider audience could appreciate and hopefully use in the workplace. The infographics not only explain the main reasons why regularly used industrial automation equipment fails, but does so in a way that is more appealing to those new to the industry."

"The industry still heavily relies on traditional equipment like motors and inverters, which can be found in countless automated manufacturing processes across all sectors from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals, oil and gas, plastics and packaging, aerospace and automotive. Despite significant improvements and updates, things can still go wrong and manufacturers should always be prepared to avoid very costly and inconvenient downtime.”

The infographics can be downloaded free of charge, printed and exhibited in manufacturing environments, from the ‘Industry guides’ section of the European Automation website.
