Avago’s ADJD-311 and ADJD-S371 digital color sensors are four-channel Red, Green and Blue (RGB) and clear digital color sensors with 10-bit resolution which provide designers with easy integration, installation, and design flexibility – especially for those designs where board space is constrained. Some of the target applications that are ideal for Avago’s miniature SMT series of RGB color sensors include mobile and consumer products such as mobile phones, PDAs, MP3 players, hand-held games, portable color detection and measurement devices, and a wide range of other small consumer applications.
The small form factor ADJD-S311 four-channel digital sensor comes in a chip scale package (CSP) that enables designers to accommodate more enhancements in the same amount of board space and can lead to further reductions in design and manufacturing costs. The ADJD-S371 is a reflective sensor module which incorporates the ADJD-S311 and a white chipLED soldered to the printed circuit board (PCB) with a separator targets applications that require reflective color sensing.
Both the ADJD-S311 and ADJD-S371 digital color sensors provide all the necessary circuitry to directly interface with a microprocessor using a conventional two-wire serial interface. Moreover, these sensors operate from a 2.5 V supply voltage, providing significantly lower power consumption for portable devices. To make it easy for designers to evaluate and design-in these new miniature color sensors, Avago also offers a complete plug and play development kit that interfaces to a personal computer through a USB port. Avago’s HDJD-JD07 development kit comes complete with all the tools and software customers need to quickly develop their color sensing and measurement applications. Moreover, this development kit is ideal for use by designers who have little or no prior experience using color sensors for their applications.
