Sony previews digital FCB block cameras for IP applications

Sony’s Image Sensing Solutions (ISS) division today previewed its next generation of FCB block cameras at the 2010 IFSEC security tradeshow. The new, FCB-E range of OEM block videocameras gains a digital output, meaning users can integrate the device, into IP based applications and a number of additional features.

The division will officially launch the camera modules in 2H 2010. The device on display at IFSEC also integrated several technologies that are new to the FCB range, such as true progressive scan, colour enhancement and new lens technology.

The range’s enhanced image stabilisation, horizontal resolution, white balance and wide D functionalities will increase the extensive range of applications.

Matthew Swinney, Senior Marketing Manager, Image Sensing Solutions, Europe, said, the range will consist of seven modules and the first in the series will be the FCB-EX1020/P.

This will use a ¼-type EXview HAD CCD image sensor coupled with an industry leading 36x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom to provide exceptional picture clarity. A brand new stable zoom functionality, effectively extending zoom capability up to 40x magnification, has also been integrated.
