SEMA to Participate in International PV Module Quality Assurance Forum during EU PVSEC 2011

The Solar Engineering & Manufacturing Association (SEMA) will participate in the upcoming International PV Module Quality Assurance Forum, scheduled to take place Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Radisson Blu (SAS) Hotel on Marseiller Strasse in Hamburg, Germany from 1:45- 4:30 p.m. The forum will take place during the Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference & Exhibition with speakers from the US (NREL), Europe (EC DG-JRC) and Japan (AIST).

The meeting is open to all industry stakeholders and will discuss the need for quality assurance for PV Modules over the 25-year warranty period and develop an action plan for how to address this. From the previous meeting that took place in San Francisco from July 15-16, 2011, the industry recognized that the current IEC testing standards were only for determining initial life of the PV module — not for module life up to 25 years — and the need for immediate efforts to develop test methodologies and standards to address this gap.

As a result of the QA Forum meeting, the PV QA Task Force was formed. To volunteer for one or more of the Task Groups, individuals can contact the leader directly or request access to the
