RS reveals ‘Summer of Sound’ competition winner

RS Components’ DesignSpark ‘Summer of Sound’ competition has been won by a synthesiser-guitar hybrid. The developer, DesignSpark community member mattybrad, wins £1500 of RS products. The hybrid instrument is played like a guitar but has the sound and functionality of a synthesiser.

The competition was launched in June and closed in September and challenged DesignSpark community members to use technology to create an original musical design, such as creating a new musical instrument.

Greig Cameron, DesignSpark Community Manager at RS, commented: “All of us at RS and DesignSpark congratulate mattybrad on winning the competition with his highly innovative synth-guitar design. We also want to send a huge thank you to everyone who entered the challenge.”

Full details of the winning project from mattybrad is available at www.rs-online.com/designspark/synth-guitar-summer-of-sound-challenge and all the competition entries are available at www.rs-online.com/designspark/summer-of-sound-winner

Pink Floyd, Ultravox, Gary Numan, Kraftwerk and Genesis, among others, have formed an orderly queue.
