The next generation FLIR ONE thermal imager is on sale at RS Components. With versions for both Apple iOS and Google Android device platforms, the pocket-sized FLIR ONE transforms a mobile device into a powerful thermal imager that sees heat and measures temperature accurately.

The thermal imager utilises either a micro-USB connector for Android devices or a Lightening connector for iOS devices to offer a compact accessory that easily connects to a smartphone or tablet.

It is powered by an internal battery and utilises FLIR's latest generation Lepton thermal camera core, which features four times the resolution of the previous version. Images are further enhanced with FLIR's patented multi-spectral dynamic imaging (MSX) technology, which embosses the edge details from the imager’s visible camera onto the thermal image producing high fidelity images.

The imager brings the advantages of thermography to a wide range of users such as building or machinery maintenance engineers, facilities managers, development engineers, security officers, students or consumers.

FLIR also announced that it will release an updated iOS software development kit (SDK) and a new Android SDK to enable developers to build and launch creative apps for both smartphone environments.

The FLIR ONE app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play. Various other thermal imaging apps are available, providing features such as time lapse, panoramic view or creative image editing.
