First true iPad magazine application in the electronics industry recognised by expert judging panel
eTech for iPad was developed by a multi-disciplinary group at RS Components, featuring the company’s eCommerce innovation, electronics technical marketing and media services teams. Developed from the print version of eTech, a quarterly electronics technology publication, eTech for iPad became the first true iPad application in the electronics industry and features engaging, high-level technical content. It provides a new way to display product and technical information, extending and enhancing the magazine content with more detail, images, animation and video to create an interactive experience for readers. Since its launch on 31st January 2011, the customer response to the eTech for iPad initiative has been overwhelmingly positive, leading to the release of a second iPad edition in April.
Commenting on being shortlisted for the New Media Age Award, Martijn Duchatteau, head of online innovation at RS, said, “eTech for iPad engages engineers with information in a dynamic and interactive way that helps them throughout the ‘find-design-buy’ process that’s at the heart of their daily work. It presents technical information in a fresh, entertaining and informative way and is another example of RS working at the forefront of technology to enable our customers to do the same.”
