Plextek, the Cambridge-based electronics and communications design consultancy today announced that it is cooperating with TriQuint Semiconductor, a leading RF products manufacturer and foundry services provider, on a co-marketing agreement. The agreement adds Plextek to TriQuint’s third party RF design resources website which refers TriQuint’s foundry services customers to proven, specialist RF design services. These customers can now benefit from Plextek’s expert support to augment their own development teams.

For more than 20 years Plextek’s multidisciplinary engineering skill has been used to tackle customers’ challenging design projects and deliver within competitive time and cost constraints. Plextek has a long history of full custom GaAs MMIC design for a wide range of applications, including mm-wave ICs for broadband wireless access, wide band LNAs, limiters and frequency converters for ESM systems and precision attenuators for instrumentation. It has designed over 40 full custom ICs on a wide range of foundries and processes including TriQuint’s fabs in both Oregon and Texas.

Liam Devlin, Director of RF Integration at Plextek comments: “Through our RFIC and MMIC design services we can help TriQuint customers to get the most from TriQuint’s foundry manufacturing processes whilst plugging any internal knowledge gaps or resource limitations. Our chip designers come from commercial backgrounds, with experience of taking IC designs from conception through to high volume manufacture and are aware of the issues associated with packaging, verification, validation, production test, yield and cost, thus ensuring customers achieve the optimum result.”

“As the world’s leading provider of innovative GaAs and GaN foundry technologies, we believe 3rd party design expertise, such as that provided by Plextek, will be invaluable to customers with limited design resources. Many of these customers are driving pilot programs to prove the viability of emerging markets critical to the growth of the RF industry. We believe cooperative agreements such as this benefit the entire RF ecosystem,” said Mike Peters, Director of Marketing for Commercial Foundry at TriQuint.
