Plessey Semiconductors wins Enterprise award from University of Plymouth

Plessey Semiconductors today announced that they had won the University of Plymouth Vice-Chancellor’s Outstanding New Business award. The award was granted at the prestigious gala award’s dinner held 16th September 2010. Receiving the award on behalf of Plessey were Randolph Gratton, Sr. VP Sales and Marketing, Neil Harper, Operations Director and Myles Blake, IT Manager.

The University cited Plessey for the management buy-out performed last year in the face of unremitting bad news from other parts of the industry. They indicated that this was probably the standout success of the year in Plymouth. The managers involved need to be congratulated and publicly awarded for the bravery of their decision and hugely positive vision for the company’s role in Plymouth.

“We were surprised to be nominated for this award and absolutely delighted to have won”, said Neil Harper, Director of Operations. “With all the heavy lifting we have done to get our business up and running, this kind of recognition is very positive for the overall morale of the employees at Plessey. The local community and the University are important factors for the future of our business. In particular, the support of the University of Plymouth for enterprise demonstrates a progressive attitude to education that should be applauded.”
