Phyworks appoints Sam Mitani as Business Development Director

Phyworks has appointed Sam Mitani as Director of Business Development. Based in California, he will focus on applications for the company’s market leading range of 10G electronic dispersion compensation (EDC) and clock data recovery (CDR) ICs.

Mitani brings to Phyworks more than 15 years high-level experience of optical communication component sales. He joins Phyworks from JDSU company Picolight where he was West Coast Sales Director and was previously with Network Elements, Oplink, Tyco and Photon. He is a BS Engineering graduate of the University of Texas.

“The biggest challenge in 10G optical has been supporting 300 metres of legacy multimode fibre to the LRM standard and I’m joining a company whose EDC and CDR technology does just that,” said Mitani. “What’s more, applying this technology to copper cable and backplane applications opens up a whole world of possibilities, so this move is very exciting for me.”
