Power Electronics South America 2012 comes to successful close

Nearly 300 specialists attended Power Electronics South America from 11 – 13 September in São Paulo, Brazil, to find out more about both the current state and the future of power electronics, intelligent drive technologies, renewable energies and energy management.

The statistics and the attendees’ feedback show clearly that the event has provided a platform for the future exchange of power electronics knowledge for Brazil and the whole of South America. Numerous exhibitors presented their new products and solutions for the Brazilian market in the exhibition area (adjoining the conference). Over the three days of the event, visitors had the chance to hear in detail about the most significant developments in the field from companies in Brazil, the USA, Italy and Germany.

Current topics of interest were discussed in detail in the three-day programme which comprised eleven sessions (42 presentations), two poster sessions (27 presentations) and three keynote speeches. In addition to the conference there were 5 half-day seminars, led by international experts.

Prof. Marcelo Heldwein, Chairman of the Advisory Committee and Prof. Leo Lorenz opened the conference and as part of the opening ceremony awarded the winners of the Best Paper Award, Moaycr Gomes de Brito of the University of São Paulo (UNSP), and the Young Engineer Award, Fernanda Carnielutti of the University of Santa Maria (UNSM), their prizes.

The follow-up event to Power Electronics South America, PCIM South America, will take place in September 2013.
