Optelian CTO to Discuss Cost Reduction & Generating New Revenue with Metro P-OTS 2.O at Ethernet & SDN Expo; October 3, 2013 in NYC

Optelian announces that Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Sheldon Walklin, will serve on an expert panel entitled “Reducing Costs and Generating New Revenue with Metro P-OTS 2.0” on Thursday, Oct. 3 from 11:30am to 12:20pm at Light Reading’s Ethernet & SDN Expo 2013. The event will take place Oct. 2 and 3 in New York City.

Since their debut in 2007, metro packet-optical transport systems have been a major growth engine for optical suppliers. During the past two years, the packet functionality in P-OTS has risen in prominence. Not only is the industry seeing true hybrid functionality (of packet and SONET/SDH), but there have also been P-OTS deployments in packet-only mode. At the same time, the deployment of DWDM optics in P-OTS has increased steadily, as fiber has moved deeper and deeper into metro networks. In the Reducing Costs and Generating New Revenue with Metro P-OTS 2.0 session, panelists will explore the key packet and optics functions and characteristics of “Metro P-OTS 2.0,” and how these next-generation systems are enabling service providers to reduce costs per bit as well as differentiate and generate new revenue streams.

“Optelian has had a banner year thus far with our recent product announcements and overall company growth,” comments Dr. Walklin. “The opportunity to speak on the ‘Metro P-OTS 2.0’ panel, with such a great group of industry thought-leaders, is truly an honor. We look forward to the conference and to further advancing the virtues of our Intuitive Packet Optical Networking.”

Light Reading’s Ethernet & SDN Expo is designed to meet the information needs of service providers and enterprises that are working out what next-generation services and applications to deploy, and what infrastructures will help them do this in the most cost-effective and productive manner. The expo includes two parts: a conference , moderated by analysts from Light Reading’s market research division, Heavy Reading; and an exhibition.
