Access announces OCR315 miniature passport and ID card reader. Designed for reducing queues at airports and for speeding up security checks, it can be used with a variety of handheld and data terminals or as a discrete hand-held device. Built in Bluetooth connectivity gives users total portability and the reader can alternatively connect to the host terminal via a high-speed USB connection. The OCR315 measures just 110 x 46 x 52 mm and weighs 115 g. Its internal battery provides over 11 hours’ operation at 100% duty cycle and a full re-charge takes just 3 hours.
The OCR315’s bi-directional reader can read 2-line or 3-line MRZs from passports, ID cards, machine-readable visas and ICAO9303 travel documents. The device is ideal for managing AQQ, APIS and other e-border data. Its proven design provides fast and accurate document reading and an integral bright torch allows the unit to be used in low light conditions. A built-in ultraviolet lamp illuminates to verify fluorescent features in security documents. An optional magnetic stripe reader reads credit and debit cards, loyalty cards and frequent flyer cards. An LED lamp and configurable audible ‘beep’ are used to confirm a successful read operation.
