NXP Chipset to Power New Amstrad HD DVR

NXP has announced that its complete DVB-S2/MPEG-4 digital video recorder set-top box solution has been incorporated in the latest Amstrad DRX780UK HD satellite receiver. Amstrad, a leading manufacturer of digital STBs and subsidiary of pay TV provider British Sky Broadcasting, has selected NXP’s high-definition H.264 chipset with DVB-S2 satellite front ends to deliver advanced quality recording and playback functionality for Sky+HD customers.
“More customers than ever are joining Sky+HD, Europe’s leading high definition service. They increasingly expect access to a wide range of broadcast HD channels alongside the control and flexibility of time-shifting and on-demand services. Amstrad is able to meet this demand with NXP’s progressive and cost-effective set-top box solution that is uniquely designed to deliver these features” said Roger Lambert, technical director, Amstrad.
