This is believed to be the first pan-industry roadmap for power electronics and will examine all sectors, including automotive, aerospace, consumer and energy. It is being undertaken as part of the NMI’s role in the newly announced PowerelectronicsUK Forum, in which NMI will lead its technology workstream.
The Forum was launched today at the IET in an event attended by the Universities and Science Minister, David Willetts. The associated Power Electronics website, www.power-electronics.org.uk, was also launched today.
The Forum stems from the governmental report ‘Power Electronics – A Strategy For Success’ published in October 2011.
Facilitated by NMI and supported by IET, Gambica and the ESP Knowledge Transfer Network the Forum is an industry-led collaborative effort to have the UK recognised as a world leader, bringing jobs and investment to the country.
Additional workstreams include skills and supply chains led by the IET and ESP KTN respectively.
