Nexeon - the company making waves with its development of next generation lithium-ion rechargeable battery technology - has picked up another accolade by being listed in the European Cleantech Connect Top 15 list of ‘Ones to watch and most promising companies in Cleantech’.
The Cleantech Connect listing comes on top of Nexeon’s inclusion in the Global Cleantech 100 listing, announced only two weeks ago, and cements Nexeon’s reputation as a significant force in global cleantech innovation. The Company’s Li-ion battery technology uses silicon in place of carbon as the anode material, and opens up the potential for increased storage capacity and longer time between charges. This capability will enable electric vehicles to be produced with greater range, currently seen as the major limiting factor in their adoption. A huge variety of consumer electronic products are also set to benefit from longer operating time between charges.

“We are honoured and delighted to be recognised for the potential of our exciting technology developments”, said Dr Bill Macklin, CTO of Nexeon. “Our technical team continues to make rapid progress and we are already in discussion with a number of potential commercial partners.”

Behind the Cleantech Connect listing is GP Bullhound, the leading investment banking firm providing advice to emerging growth companies in the technology sector. The companies gaining awards in the 2010 listing will be celebrated at a dinner in London on November 17th which will feature a keynote speech by Jonathon Porritt, Founder Director of Forum for the Future.
