TDC announces the quad-band RoHS compliant Siemens TC65 Version 2 featuring full primary and secondary serial port control under Java. With improved IMP 2.0 Java performance and benefiting from lower power consumption in online data modes, the TC65 Version 2 is perfect for power sensitive applications demanding maximum integration. The TC65 version 2 is available from TDC as a module, Terminal and Starter Pack.

Measuring 34 x 45 x 3.5mm and weighing less than 10g, the TC65 module supports GPRS Class 12 providing up to 54Kbps uplink and downlink GSM/GPRS connectivity. It also benefits from a variety of interfaces including Digital and Analogue I/Os, I²C bus and SPI bus plus integrated TCP/IP functions via AT commands. The new version of TC65 is suited to applications such as security systems, remote metering, point of sale and vending machines.

TC65 also supports IMP 2.0, the new Java™ profile developed for data communication modules. It is also backwards compatible with the IMP 1.0 which was used in the TC45. TC65 also benefits from an on-board ARM processor which ensures high-speed data processing.

The TC65 Terminal provides the missing link between M2M applications and the world of IP-based services involving GSM/GPRS communication. The Terminal measures 130 x 90 x 38mm and offers a complete software development platform with which to create licence-free hardware independent applications.

The Terminal also operates in an extended ambient temperature range of -30 to +65°C. Due to its quad band capability, it can be used anywhere in the world.

In recognition of the new version, TDC is offering the TC65 Starter Pack at a special price of £159 when customers quote ref: TDCTC65SP. The Starter Pack is the ideal way for developers to produce code and applications for either the TC65T (Terminal version) or TC65 (module). The Starter Pack includes all the relevant documentation, antenna, power supplies, cables and the unit itself.

Managing Director of TDC, Jerry Sandys comments, “Embedded Internet connectivity can be a complex task. The TC65 addresses this by providing the ultimate balance of integration, power consumption and size. Anything with a serial port can now connect to the internet enabling World-wide communications and logistics.”
