The three-day NEPCON China 2012 exhibition ended on April 25 at the Shanghai World Expo Convention & Exhibition Center. The high-profile trade event for new manufacturing equipment, technologies and solutions attracted electronics manufacturing and SMT’s most innovative companies. Local and international exhibitors demonstrated a wide array of solutions on-site.

By focusing on topical issues like future development trends, electronics manufacturing automation, ESD, novel energy and new light sources, the event served as an accurate barometer of today’s electronics manufacturing trade.

The scale of this year’s exhibition was a record 34,000 sqm, across which more than 500 exhibitors from over 22 countries and regions presented 1,000+ pieces of electronics manufacturing equipment, test & measurement products, components and other machinery. Additionally 18,392 elite members of the industry, together with buyers from various fields, came to the exhibition, marking the highest number of visitors in the show’s history.

Josephine Lee, Senior Vice President of Reed Exhibitions Greater China, said, “Over the three days, NEPCON China 2012 showcased a comprehensive array of the most advanced technologies, products and solutions in electronics manufacturing and SMT. We, at Reed, are proud that the tens of thousands of visitors who made their way through the show doors were able to evaluate, first hand, cutting-edge SMT technology and equipment, soldering equipment and materials, test and measurement gadgets, ESD and purifying devices, bar code equipment and materials, electromechanical assembly and manufacturing machinery, and electronics manufacturing services.”

Xia Qing, Sales Director of Tokyo Juki International Trading (Shanghai), said, “NEPCON China 2012 really impressed us with its large scale and world class range of facilities. At the show, we managed to engage numerous high-quality potential buyers. Undoubtedly, NEPCON is the most effective channel for us to not only promote new solutions, but also to meet with powerful potential partners.”
Accelerating the development of new fields is increasingly popular among electronics manufacturers. This was the highlight of NEPCON China 2012. The new ESD and Electronics Manufacturing Automation exhibition areas boasted solutions that had a significant impact among participants. The Electronics Manufacturing Automation exhibition area, in particular, shone a spotlight on the most advanced industrial automation technologies and products in today’s industry.

NEPCON China continues to innovate in areas like trade conferences and on-site events to help participants get a more thorough understanding of development trends in electronics manufacturing. During NEPCON China 2012, the SMTA China East Conference 2012, Engineers’ Salon and SMT Home Member Gathering, Printed & Flexible Electronics Industry Development Forum, East China Manual Welding Competition, and other activities were enthusiastically attended by hundreds of participants.

The 2012 Summit Forum on China’s Anti-Static Industry, the SMT Senior Talent Gathering and other activities also drew the attention of numerous visitors. All these activities explored, in depth, current and upcoming trends in electronics manufacturing and technology. One particular focus was electronics manufacturing automation, which is key to promoting sustainable development in electronics manufacturing.

Lin Jianping, CQO of UTStarcom, said, “NEPCON China attracted high-profile exhibitors and showcased much new equipment and many new technologies. We, at UTStarcom, were particularly keen to see two new zones: the ones for Electronics Manufacturing Automation and ESD. Printed and flexible electronics technologies are other key future trends that Reed focused on.”

Pan Yuanhang, General Manager of Shenyang Sunpool Automotive Electronics, was pleased to see numerous high-profile exhibitors as well as new technologies and equipment at the show. He reiterated a belief that due to intensifying competition and rising labor costs, the Electronics Manufacturing Automation zone was the ideal information-gathering channel through which companies could pursue developmental and expansion ambitions.

The NEPCON series of exhibitions has developed some of the longest standing electronics manufacturing industry events in Asia. Together, NEPCON China (Shanghai), NEPCON South China (Shenzhen) and NEPCON West China (Chengdu) cover the country’s main electronics manufacturing industry hubs.

In China, NEPCON continues to strengthen its presence in three key regions and extend its influence nationwide. With NEPCON China 2012 over, attention now turns to NEPCON West China 2012. This show will take place in Chengdu from June 19 to June 21. NEPCON West China 2012 already boasts strong support from the Chengdu Branch of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade as well as from Chengdu’s Economic & Information Commission. This staunch governmental support allows SMT and PCB manufacturers to gain a faster, firmer foothold in western China.

The last show in the NEPCON series for 2012 will be NEPCON South China in Shenzhen. This event, which will run from August 28 to August 30, will be a robust trade platform for exhibitors and visitors alike. One of South China’s largest and longest standing trade and purchasing platforms, NEPCON South China 2012 will run concurrent to the 2012 Electronics Assembly and Packaging Technology Expo. Together, the dual event will feature the entire electronics manufacturing industry chain.
