First time exhibitor at Nepcon 2006, Aspen Electronics has reported their attendance to be an unqualified success. After an encouragingly busy first day, Managing Director, Howard Venning commented: “We expected strong interest in our test equipment and power supplies, here in Birmingham, and we were not disappointed. But we were particularly impressed and a little surprised to see so much attention paid to our component ranges.”
Aspen intended to concentrate its efforts on its wide range of instrumentation, including digital storage oscilloscopes, counter timers and power supplies, expecting the majority of visitors to be from a production environment. “I was encouraged to see that Nepcon visitors are just as interested in our components range,” Venning added. He attributes the attention to the increasing use of RF and microwave technology in all types of electronic systems, especially in the wireless and wired communications sectors.

The Ruislip-based distributor offers a broad range of components from world-class manufacturers, including amplifiers, antennas, crystals and oscillators, ferrites, RF and microwave waveguide systems, and other specialised RF and microwave devices.

“Of particular interest were crystal-based products from Vectron International,” Venning commented. Aspen is keen to point out that Vectron can supply the complete range of frequency control products from simple clock oscillators right up to high specification oven controlled oscillators (OCXOs), plus a wide range of SAW filters and SAW based oscillators. “This mean that prospective customers can potentially get all their frequency control products from one source.”

Another product category that received a great deal of interest, was Aspen’s range of coaxial connectors. Enquiries covered the range from miniature RF connectors for PCB mounted designs to high power, low intermod 7-16 DIN connectors for system use.

Venning concluded: “Overall the show was a great success for a company who was participating for the first time and we will certainly be looking forward to the 2007 event.”
