NanoSight delivers the world’s most versatile and proven multi-parameter nanoparticle analysis in a single instrument. NanoSight’s Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) detects and visualises populations of nanoparticles in liquids down to 10nm and measures the size of each particle from direct observations of diffusion. NanoSight has installed more than 400 systems worldwide with users including BASF, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Novartis, Pfizer, Proctor and Gamble, Roche and Unilever, together with many leading Universities and Research Institutes.

Widespread commercial uptake of emerging technologies is vital to the wealth-creating power of the UK, and nanotechnology is leading the way in driving the future wealth of UK economy. The Business Innovation Awards recognise positive developments in nanotechnology and actively help businesses to further develop and launch commercially viable applications. NanoSight was winner in the Energy and Environment category with product benefits including lean burn catalysis, improved battery performance and nanoparticle environmental fate. Improved combustion of hydrocarbon fuels, for example, can reduce emissions and boost energy efficiency.

The award comes in the same month that NanoSight was recognised by Deloitte as the UK’s fastest growing biotech company in its 2011 Technology Fast 50 Rankings. NanoSight has made it to number one nationwide and is the fastest growing of all technology companies in the South West and Wales region in the UK. The Company has also been recognised in the Technology Fast 500 EMEA 2011 rankings, a list of the 500 fastest growing technology companies across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Since the Company was founded in 2004, NanoSight has worked closely with the NanoKTN, enabling the company to secure new business and increase its business prospects as well as providing the company with a platform to deliver information about the benefits of its technology directly to its target audience.

“The NanoKTN has been invaluable to us and has been instrumental in providing us with the network that we need to make ourselves successful. In the early days, help from the NanoKTN’s experienced staff enabled us to build a network of potential customers. Its Directory acted as our first database of customers in the UK,” says Jeremy Warren, NanoSight’s CEO.

Warren adds, “The continued support from the NanoKTN has helped us understand the market and the Theme Managers have acted as part of the family at NanoSight. We greatly value their input and counsel. We have already recommended the NanoKTN to many partner companies and would encourage anyone working within the industry to register as a member and attend their events.”

Alec Reader, Director at the NanoKTN adds, “It has been a pleasure to work with NanoSight, to watch them grow as a business and provide them with support and advice along the way. By helping UK businesses like this improve their productivity we are helping to ensure the future of UK nanotechnology is securely embedded in the global market.”
