Molex to acquire cable manufacturer

Molex has announced the signing of a binding agreement to acquire Flamar Cavi Elettrici, designer and manufacturer of a broad range of custom cables for multiple markets and applications. Flamar will operate as a subsidiary of Molex Incorporated. The acquisition is subject to anti-trust approval and is expected to close in Q3 2014. Terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 1976, Flamar provides a comprehensive portfolio of cable solutions for industrial automation, robotics, broadcast audio/video, and telecommunications applications. Specialising in producing high-flex, multi-core cable featuring excellent resistance to torsion, chemicals and welding slag, Flamar has extensive experience in manufacturing high performance and durable cabling for sensors, measurement, controls, robotics and machine drives.

According to Tim Ruff, Senior Vice President, Business Development and Corporate Strategy, Molex, the acquisition will help expand Molex cabling product offerings for machine and process control in the industrial automation and robotic industries: “Flamar has an outstanding reputation as a trusted and reliable provider of high quality cable solutions for assembly lines, conveyors – anywhere industrial connectivity is required. Their cable design strengths and European customer base in machine building and robotics align well with our global capacity to meet demand in these key markets.”
