Architects, Chandavarkar & Associates have designed the 20-acre campus taking a cue from the ancient architectural principles behind local temples and applied them to a modern design. The campus is being built in a phased approach and the first phase of 200,000 square feet will be completed in 2013. The total size is expected to be around 800,000 square feet and will take between 5-7 years to complete.
Subroto Bagchi, vice chairman of MindTree said, “MindTree believes Odisha is the emerging hub of the east. We are looking forward to building a world-class centre here that will train and deploy some of the best minds of the eastern region. We will engage with the academic community here to create a vibrant eco-system.”

At a launch ceremony, students from various local educational institutions poured earth specially brought in from many different places in the world at the base of a Krishna Ficus tree at the proposed site. Odisha chief minister Shri Naveen Patnaik consecrated the event by pouring earth from the State. Welcoming MindTree to Odisha, the chief minister said “When high quality organisations come to the state, apart from helping the economy, there is a cascading effect on the intellectual environment. We welcome MindTree as our newest corporate citizen”.

The total number of employees working at MindTree Kalinga once the project is completed is expected to be around 5000. It will also provide facilities for MindTree to train 4000 people each year.
