mimoOn GmbH, the software defined radio (SDR) software company, today released the mi!Spectrum LTE Femtocell Scheduler preliminary specification. The high-efficiency mi!Spectrum Femtocell LTE Air Interface Scheduler is fully compliant with the new Femto Forum APIs for air interface scheduling and network monitoring, and is optimized for use in low cost Femtocells, in uncoordinated high volume deployment scenarios.
This new generation of interference-aware air interface schedulers will significantly improve spectrum efficiency and minimize macro network interference, with special focus on the critical scenarios identified in 3GPP TR 25.967 and Femto Forum. The mi!Spectrum scheduler will run on mimoOn's mi!Femto stack, as well as any other vendor's stack supporting the FemtoForum Scheduler / NMM APIs.

Thomas Kaiser, mimoOn CEO, said: The new Femto Forum API based mi!Spectrum Scheduler is a major enabler for large scale LTE Femtocell rollout. Operators will benefit from the additional spectrum efficiency and minimized Macro Network interference.

Willem Mulder, mimoOn VP IP & Standards, added: In addition to the predefined mimoOn Scheduler configurations optimized for most common deployment scenarios, the configurability of the scheduler will enable system vendors and operators to differentiate themselves by finetuning the behavior of the Scheduler for specific deployment scenarios using the 22 available system KPIs
